While road-tripping through outback Western Queensland, we stopped overnight in Winton—best known for its dinosaur fossils. But what caught my eye that morning wasn’t a fossil... it was a Brolga family, foraging and bug-hunting for breakfast.

These statuesque beauties are among Australia’s largest birds—standing over 1 metre tall—and part of the crane family.
